Got some elbow grease? Uprooting the adverse effects of gentrification on the arts and other low-income groups in the Greater Toronto to Hamilton Area requires thoughtful, gutsy, deeply collaborative responses across the entire golden horseshoe region in southwestern Ontario and beyond. The root causes and ripple effects of urban densification and rapid change are unique to each community. However, as more and more residents from downtown Toronto are displaced to outlying regions in the search of affordable housing, it is time to rally impacted groups and community champions to identify and implement inclusive zoning and inclusive spacing strategies for all urban centres across the province, not just Toronto and Hamilton.
