The Opportunity
ArtsPond is seeking four (4) Associate Producer Interns to help support the strategic evolution of our organization by contributing to one or more creative programming, community, and revenue development initiatives planned for Winter, Spring, and Summer 2024.
Depending on the skills and interests of the selected candidate(s), the Intern(s) will be granted opportunities to learn and apply valuable new skills in any of the following areas:
- Spatial
Support the design and presentation of the second edition of an international colloquia online featuring guest speakers on the evolution of social purpose real estate solutions in arts and culture, including cultural land trusts. The first edition took place in 2020. - Digital
Support the design and development of an open source database of venues and other facilities in arts and culture from across Canada. This project uses AI, AirTable, and other collaborative technologies to help crowd-source additions to Canada’s Open Database of Cultural and Arts Facilities and other datasets. - Socioeconomic
Support the design and evolution of an impactful approach to help ArtsPond reduce precarity and deepen care with, by, and for Indigenous, Racialized, Newcomers, and other diverse groups in Canadian arts and culture. Support the launch and marketing of two creative fellowships on post-pandemic recovery Ontario-wise and arts-led leadership in social change in the GTHA. Support knowledge seeking research on equity-centered approaches to impact evaluation and impact investing in the arts. - Marketing and communications
Support the strategic development of ArtsPond including the creation and submission of a charitable status application and other legal activities. Support the design and evolution of an accessible community job board powered by WordPress and WP Job Manager, and a Discord site as an alternative to traditional social media. Help with the development of a new Care Fellows program featuring commissioned knowledge resources created by Indigenous, Racialized, Disabled, and other equity-deserving groups in Canadian arts and culture. Contribute to the governance and standing committee meetings of the board of directors, or strengthen awareness of social justice issues in arts and culture through non-partisan advocacy and communications. - Other
Other general administration duties that are of interest to the candidate(s).
Qualifications
The Intern(s) will be able to select the areas of responsibility and learning that they are most interested in while also taking advantage of their current experience, skills, and backgrounds. The ideal candidate(s) will:
- Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Arts Management, Marketing, Communications, Urban Studies, Information Technology, or a related field
- Familiarity with or a passion for arts and culture in Canada
- A collaborative, self-starter attitude, able to adapt and learn new skills quickly
- A passionate, concise, and eloquent communications style in English, including reading, writing, and spoken word
- French language skills are an asset
- Strong literacy with computer programs, especially Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge or experience with WordPress an asset
- At least one year of knowledge or experience in a relevant field
- Access to a home office including personal computer (Windows or Mac OS) and internet.
Timeline
- Winter Internship
The desired commitment is a total of 125 hours between February 19 and May 31, 2024. Desired work hours are between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. If possible, please express interest no later than February 28, 2024. - Spring/Summer Internship
The desired commitment is a total of 300 hours between May 13 and August 30, 2024. Work hours are between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. If possible, please express interest no later than May 3, 2024.
Compensation and location
This Internship is a volunteer opportunity with the possibility to transition to a paid position contingent upon the availability of funding. An honoraria will be provided. The position is remote or hybrid (a mixture of remote and in-person at our office near Queen West and Dufferin in Toronto).
