In support of the Ontario General Strike, we the participants of the Toronto Arts Council Leaders Lab, call for :
- Housing for all (that is respectful, appropriate, truly affordable, accessible, and beautiful)
- Healthcare for all (that meets all of our complex wellness needs, that is free, that includes dental care, that includes medication, that understands collective care, that is inclusive of mental health wellness)
- Care for all (that includes child care and elder care)
- Education for all (that is free, celebrates the untold stories of our elders, empowers the potential of our youth to imagine and realize a better future)
- Public spaces for all (that are accessible, represent the diversity of our communities, and strengthen communication and understanding across cultures)
- Living wage for all (that permits individuals and families to realize their best selves for the benefit of all)
- Kindness for all (that respects, values and empowers participation of the diversity of our communities)
- Respect for Indigenous self-determination (that values the rights of Indigenous peoples to be in relationship with the land, and to celebrate our/their lives, stories and traditions with pride)
- Commitment to environmental protections (that preserve our natural habitats for generations to come)
- Appreciation that art is a vital part of life (that artists are respected and well-paid for their time, provided benefits, pensions, and care that values the importance of creative self-expression in leading a beautiful, meaningful life)
